Purpose:

To give the student knowledge and comprehension of the principles and techniques that are

special for construction a use of digital audio systems.

Contents:

• A/D-D/A-techniques in high quality digital audio, including oversampling, noise

shaping, dither and clock jitter.

• Digital audio signal processing and its demand for processor-power and word length,

techniques to achieve high S/N-ratio, dynamic range and high bandwidth in real time

signal processing. Implementing in single and multiprocessor DSP systems.

• Digital recording and transmission systems, including coding and error correction, and

digital storage equipment such as: R-DAT, S-DAT, ADAT, optical and magnetic disk

systems.

• Digital audio interfaces and standards including: MIDI, AES/EBU, MADI and interfaces

to DSP’s.

Prerequisites:

Fundamental knowledge in digital signal processing theory and implementation. Analogue

electronics and circuit theory.
