Purpose:

To give the student knowledge and comprehension of the principles and techniques that are

special for construction a use of digital audio systems.

Contents:

A/D-D/A-techniques in high quality digital audio, including oversampling, noise

shaping, dither and clock jitter.

Digital audio signal processing and its demand for processor-power and word length,

techniques to achieve high S/N-ratio, dynamic range and high bandwidth in real time

signal processing. Implementing in single and multiprocessor DSP systems.

Digital recording and transmission systems, including coding and error correction, and

digital storage equipment such as: R-DAT, S-DAT, ADAT, optical and magnetic disk

systems.

Digital audio interfaces and standards including: MIDI, AES/EBU, MADI and interfaces

to DSP’s.

Prerequisites:

Fundamental knowledge in digital signal processing theory and implementation. Analogue

electronics and circuit theory.
