To give the student a comprehension of acoustical transducers, their modelling,

performance and applications.

Contents:

Modelling of mechanical and acoustical systems and electrical analogies. Conversion

between electrical and acoustical signals.

Transducer drive mechanisms. Modelling electro acoustical transducers.

Loudspeaker units, loudspeaker enclosures, multiple driver systems, loudspeaker

arrays. Horn loudspeakers. Motional feedback systems.

Headphones, principles and applications.

Microphones: Electrodynamic, electrostatic and piezoelectric.

Accelerometers, principles and applications.

Measurement technique and standardisation.

Prerequisites:

Fundamentals of acoustics. Electrical circuit theory, basic mechanical physics.
